Sepia started out in 2002. The members of the band all lived in the countryside of northern Switzerland and they all felt devoted to rockmusic. Since everyday-life in rural Switzerland, as you might assume, does not contain too much rock n’ roll, they decided to get together and form a good and hard-working indie-rockband. The main motivation, of course, was the fact that they simply enjoy to write songs and spend their time playing music. Therefore, they started rehearsing whenever they found the time. Just a couple of months later Sepia got invited to play their first concerts. Sometimes they played in really small but usually packed venues, at other times they found themselves playing in front of pretty big audiences at local open-air concerts.
Due to many positive experiences on stage and great feedback from the audience it soon became clear that Sepia’s music and live performance were able to convince the crowd. They were invited to play more shows, at bigger venues, and the media got interested in the newly formed band. The interest in Sepia’s work was surprisingly big, even though the band did not have anything recorded or published in the internet.
So it was time to get some demo-recordings made. In summer 2003 Sepia participated in northern Switzerland’s biggest band-contest, where they won first place amongst 72 contenders. This success gave the band more popularity and the opportunity to record three songs in a studio. These songs were put in the internet, where they soon got great attention.
About forty concerts later the band finally had earned enough fees to finance their first EP-production. The EP came out in 2007 and sold quite well in the internet and privately. Nowadays Sepia plays shows in venues throughout Switzerland and southern Germany. With over five years of experience and a great number of songs, the band fascinates their audiences with a versatile and powerful set.
